Comfort Levels
Comfort levels

On Model Locate, we describe comfort levels as the work that models and photographers are interested in doing. They generally have to do with how much of the body can be seen in the images, and the physical attributes and skills required to produce the images.

Not everyone is comfortable with every type of image, and not everyone has the right physique or skills for every image style. It's impossible to exactly define every comfort level, but here are some examples and descriptions to help you.

Don't contact people about doing work unless their profile indicates they are interested in that kind of work.

Set your comfort levels by editing your profile. Your photo categories also automatically update your comfort levels!

Choose the types of work that you want to do and set them on your own profile. When contacting others, read their comfort level first. As you've probably guessed, unwanted contact is prohibited.

Headshots/Portrait
Requires a great face. Body is not seen -- almost all models will do this
User submitted image

Casual
Everyday clothing. Most images that don't belong to another category fall into this one.

Runway Fashion
Usually has a height requirement, and you need to know how to walk the runway. Train for this one if you don't know how!

Sport/Fitness
Not only requires a body for fitness but the ability to simulate sport activities. May require strength, flexibility, muscle definition, and other attributes not common to every model.

Swim wear
Includes one piece and bikini. Almost all models doing swimwear will model bikinis that can be skimpy and include thong bottoms, so make a specific note if you're not willing to do certain kinds of swimwear.

Glamour
Sexy clothing, seductive poses, and often cleavage. Does not mean nudity. May show a little more than bikini, but not much.

Lingerie
Sexy underwear.

Covered/implied nude
The model is either nude (covered nude) or appears to be nude (implied nude) but neither nipples nor crotch are visible in the final shot due to props, camera angle, cropping, hands, etc.
User submitted image

Sheer/see-through
The body is covered only with see-through clothing, lingerie, fabric, or other material. There are varying degrees of see-through so if the model is not comfortable with nude/topless you might discuss the specifics and provide examples.

Topless
Nipples are exposed, but crotch is not.

Artistic nude
This is full nudity, not implied, but has artistic merit. The difference between nude and artistic nude is often a matter of opinion.

Nude
This is just full nudity.
