Safety tips
Here are some safety tips. The list is by no means all-inclusive.

We want you to enjoy Model Locate, but please remember to always use common sense and caution when online.

Don't post information in the forum or on a Profile Page that you would not want the public to see. Anything you post in these areas can be seen by the public.

If you are a model, do not respond to anyone who requests money from you. There is no need to pay any photographer or agency to "become a model" or to gain fame. Such invitations are usually scams.

Never post personal information such as your full name, mailing addresses, home addresses, email addresses, telephone or cell phone numbers, passwords, school names or addresses, favorite hangouts, or banking details. Model Locate keeps your email private until you choose to contact someone. We also never give out your date of birth.

Don't pick a user name that someone can use to learn your real identity or which has a meaning that would attract negative attention or encourage others to bother you. Pick a user name that does not give away your full name.

If someone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable, ignore them, report them (through the report button on their profile), and block them from contacting you (block button is also on the profile.)

Report any scam or suspected scam to us. There is a report button on every profile. We will immediately report anyone we suspect of running a scam to the The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3 is a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.)

Do your homework: If you don't know someone, get references; or better yet meet them in public until you feel comfortable.

Don't give out too much: Don't put your last name on your profile unless you want people to be able to look up your personal information (address, phone number, etc.) Don't give out other personal information (address, phone number, date of birth) to strangers. You can even use a nickname instead of your real name for your public profile.

Although Model Locate collects your date of birth and email, we only use them to calculate your age and to forward messages to you. Note that if you email someone though, they will get your return address.

Use Bookings: Once you've agreed on a shoot use the booking system before you go to the shoot; this will allow you to leave feedback. If you do not use the booking system you will be unable to leave feedback. If the other person knows you'll be leaving feedback, maybe they will behave better.

Separate Passwords: We suggest you use a separate password than you use on other sites, especially if you deal with many smaller or newer sites. Unscrupulous site operators (known as phishers) or hackers could access your password and use it to log into your Model Locate account or any other sites where you use the same password.
