"If we're not having fun, we're doing something wrong."
Virtually all my shoots are TFP. Since I'm not charging, I'm only doing shoots that will be creative and fun with models who have similar goals ...so we both improve our portfolios. Working together, cooperating, sharing... Fair enough?
The reason I shoot with models, rather than doing only wildlife or travel photography, is that it's fun to have instant feedback and to share ideas. That makes it worthwhile. Feel free to suggest your creative ideas or examples that would be fun to try.
As far as my experience, I've done photography with 58 models for whom I have links (plus others) in at least eight countries ranging from first time amateurs to experienced Playboy models. While doing travel and wildlife photography I've been to most parts of the world, including trips in 2011 to Cuba and Peru and the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. I shoot primarily with Nikon cameras and have a mix of professional and home built studio lighting equipment.
I've got plenty of other projects that keep me busy, so when I have time to shoot with models I seek only those who will be reliable and creative. Models are very free to suggest their own styles and ideas. My goals are more technical: to create high quality images through practice and experimentation. I.e., the model photography I do is just fun competition for me to see if my work can rival professional studios in larger cities. |
