Terry Manier (1964 - present) reveals secrets of life through his photographs. Bumbling his way through a charmed life of good luck and fortunate circumstance, Terry finds satisfaction in whatever he does.
Terry was born many years ago in Miami, Florida. His distaste for school, found him complete bliss in practical jokes and delighting in terrified screams of little girls. This was the beginning of the end for Terry and his on again, off again love affair with traditional education. He instead found inspiration in his Fisher-Price pocket camera with a wooden rotating flash. He's been taking pictures since.
Before settling on a career in photography, Terry was a fire-medic for six years in Birmingham, Alabama. Not giving up his love for playing with fire, Terry decided the world was waiting for him and he went away to university. Spending a lengthy time at university, it was his time to graduate and pursue a career in communication arts.
A short eight years, three months, and two days later, his love for photography had grown. He found a small cabin on Folly Beach, SC and maintained an active social life, going to parties and good restaurants. Building a significant client base, Terry started his own graphic design business and worked on perfecting his "picture-taking" skills. Working hard, he relocated to an even better pad on James Island, SC where the cocktail parties were nearly a hundred times more elaborate. Here, Terry was able to nurture his love for pulling weeds, maintaining a vegetarian diet and attempting his "Evel Knievel" moves he's been working on since childhood.
Terry is disciplined in his work and has transitioned into a fine "photographer's life," rising shortly before 6 a.m. to catch the morning surf and then shooting until late in the day. Occasionally, he'll break for an hour to fulfill his love of cooking his famous grilled cheese, cheese toast and cheese cheese.
